Admission Process at SCID
Considering the unpredictable Covid 19 situation unfolding around us and the uncertainty about the end of the lockdown, SCID would like to assure all its applicants that we have taken complete precautions in coming up with a safer alternative to the Entrance Exam Process for Sasi Creative Institute of Design,Coimbatore.
Since it is important to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude for the programme, it has been decided to modify the admission process.The admission process shall be carried out online in which the candidates will be able to participate from the comfort of their homes.
The admission process shall consist of Online Aptitude Exam,Portfolio Review & Personal Interview over video conferencing.
As required, the Admission Procedure is:-

Once you apply with us, you will need to appear for the below mentioned Online entrance Exam Process.
There are 3 parts of the entrance exam:
- a) GPT- General Proficiency Test, which includes English Comprehension, Grammar, Basic Mathematics & logical reasoning – (Link for the online Exam will be shared with you to your mobile Number registered with us.)
- b) DAT- Design Aptitude test, which includes situation, based questions to Draw and write the synopsis about it. – (Drawings can can be sent to the admission Counsellor)
- c) Personal Interview where applicant is judged on

INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS
1. Read the information and instructions carefully before filling the application form.
2. Use black/blue ball point pen to fill the application form.
3. Fill up the application in BLOCK LETTERS.
4. Put a “Tick” mark wherever applicable.
5. Applications without Photo & Application Fee details will be rejected.
6. (i) After filling the application form, applicants can send the scanned document to admissions@sccd.in

In keeping with the Sasi Creative Colleges philosophy of affirmative and inclusive education we invite all applicants to provide any additional information regarding any achievements, special consideration and needs, that should be taken into consideration for admission into a course of study. Please attach documents of proof where necessary.

PLEASE NOTE:
(i) The Application fee paid by the applicant is a non-refundable amount.
(ii) This is an application for the course of your choice and NOT your enrolment into the same.
(iii) Please mention the primary program and course you would like to apply to at the beginning of the form
(iv) To be considered for other courses offered by Creative College of Design which is to be mentioned at the end of the form, the non-refundable application fee is 1250/- for each additional course. In the event of an applicant applying for more than one course, a consolidated DD can be obtained and the same can be referenced in the form.
(v) Please provide a Demand Draft favouring “Swaminathan Rajalakshmi Educational Charitable Trust”, payable at Coimbatore, with your name and course(s) applied to clearly written on the reverse.

PORTFOLIO REVIEW AND PERSONAL INTERVIEW DATES:
The Portfolio Review and Personal Interview will be conducted by members of Faculty, Academic Advisors, Educational Consultants, Counsellors, Management and Admissions Officers as present. This is simply to gauge the prospective student’s creative aptitude, passion, interest and mindset towards an academic career in Design, understanding their achievements, as well as to ensure that the prospective student’s personality, character and attitude are a right fit for the institution and the student community.
Portfolio can include any and all creative work done by the Student to demonstrate their aptitude, abilities, passion and interest. This can include sketches, drawings, paintings, photographs, craft work, digital work, short films, written pieces such as poetry, essays, stories and scripts and anything else they would like to present to the Board of Admissions for consideration.
The candidate is required to bring all supporting documents and certificates to verify details provided in the application.
ACCREDITATION
We offer a four year exclusive Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program approved by an Alagappa University* recognised by UGC.
In addition, we are collaboration with a UK University to enable students with cutting edge education content, methods and learning thereby equipping our students with skills that are amongst the best world wide. UK universities are generally renowned worldwide for quality education and are highly reputed worldwide.
The foreign collaboration also adheres to the stringent norms of QAA, one of the highest norms in the world. This ensures that students are bound to get the best of training and learning.
What we teach here, apart from the technical skill sets, is a radical conceptual approach to design and test them through debate and through application in public space. You will learn to consider design practice in relation to the human conditions experienced in everyday life as well as in relation to social, political, landform, urban and virtual environments.
ELIGIBILITY
Those who are desirous of seeking admission to the undergraduate programmes offered at CCD should fulfill the following criteria.
Applicants should be minimum of 16 years of age by 31 December in the year of entry.
10 + 2, or 10 + 3 (Diploma) or A Level
A Pass in 10 + 2, or 10 + 3 (Diploma) or A Level or equivalent qualification with English as Medium of instruction. (IELTS 6.0) will be accepted as English language proficiency for those whose medium of education was in a language other than English in Higher Secondary. Candidates awaiting results can also apply.
“ACCREDITATION OF PRIOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING” (APEL):
Mature students may possess considerable amounts of uncertified learning, which may have been derived from work base or other experiences. It is our intention to offer such students an opportunity to gain credit for this learning if that would be appropriate. Claim for APEL, should be made prior to the start of the programme.
CREDIT TRANSFER:
Applicant can apply with credit transfer facilities as well. Applicants need to submit a portfolio to be considered for the same.
